Comedy is the contrast between what we think is reality...and reality. That's why Finnegans Wake is correctly called a comic novel. Because what we think is reality is a construct formed by all the WORDS that went into us, printed or otherwise. Each thing we learned through words LIMITED our reality, as we thought it was expanding it! Funny!!
The more we read, the more we learned, the less we knew.
Besides actually satirizing our use of words, Finnegans Wake pours so many words and the concepts they carry into our brain, (and our unconscious), that it blows the fuses on what we can handle. This leaves us able to then "reset" our minds, and hopefully put our own awarenesses in, from our own experiences, not from others words.
